The Explorer Scout Unit offers Scouting to young people in the age range 14 to 18 (minimum 13½). It is open to both those who have grownup through the Scout Group and to those new to Scouting. Explorer Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves, design their own programme and work towards the top awards that Scouting offers. In keeping with this, the Viper Explorer Scout Unit also offers the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme and currently all our members are signed up for this.
1st Fordingbridge 2019 AGM report – Viper ESU
2018 was a very busy and successful year for Viper Explorers with membership holding at 13.
The diverse range of activities in our program included First Aid training, cooking, climbing, air rifle shooting, canoeing to Brownsea Island and a joint conservation working weekend with Alderbury Explorers to name but a few. Our Bronze and Silver DofE teams successfully completed their assessed expeditions with us. We attended an international jamboree in Austria. Furthermore 4 Explorers, selected to attend the 2019 World Scout Jamboree, commenced their training and fundraising. These opportunities for Young People would not have been possible without the support Viper ESU receives. We gratefully acknowledge the partnership agreement we have with 1st Fordingbridge which provides us with a place to meet. We are also grateful for the support of some key parents for fundraising and program delivery. Without this support we would not be able to offer these opportunities.
