Beaver Scout Section Report 2019
At present we have 18 Beavers on the register. We have 4 children on our waiting list who are old enough to join.
We have had a very fun and busy year!!!
Beavers had a very enjoyable camp at Harrys Island with the Cubs. There were lots of fun activities and games for them to do. A very big Thankyou to the Leaders who organised this and to the parents for their help!
We had a brilliant meeting for our younger Beavers in June at Alderholt Riding Stables, where the Beavers got to groom horses, muck out the stables, bucket up the feed for the horses and got to ride on them!! Whilst this was taking place our older Beavers were at Hengistbury Head gaining their Paddlesports Stage 1 badges. We will be doing both of these activities again this year.
As a group the Beavers have gained their Communicator, Creative, Safety, Space, Experiment, Health and Fitness, Disability and Faith badges. Beavers have earned their hike Stage 1, 2 and 5 badges and 2 have Hike stage 10!!
Most Beavers had a go at Archery in March, thankyou Matthew and Tracey for running this for us.
We again had an excellent Hampshire Beavers day out at Paultons Park in October.
There were Pumpkins everywhere!! The weather was great and everyone had a fantastic time….including some of the Leaders/Adult helpers who had to go round on Magma and Cobra 5 times in a row!!!
We also had a scary but fun Halloween party with Cubs, it was quite frightening to see just how Freaky Beavers and Cubs looked!
Our visit to the Fire station nearly didn’t happen as they were out on a shout when we arrived! We were just about to head off on a nature trail instead…..but they arrived back at the station….eating ice creams!!!…We managed to get a good look around the station, trying on the helmets, then looking all around the equipment and sit in the fire engine, which was great fun.
We have had 2 joint outings with our cub pack. Firstly to Blashford lakes, where we took part in a Bird Trail competition. It was amazing just how many different Birds we saw. Our second outing with Cubs was to Marwell Zoo. It was a fantastic day out following the Brickosaurus Trail
We try to base most of our meetings around activity badges and the challenge badges, so that our Beavers can gain their Bronze Chief Scout Award...
Bronze Chief Scout award that was been presented this year was to
James R.…...................a Huge Achievement, you had to work hard to gain this……
Well done, we are very proud of you!!!
Thankyou to all parents that have helped in the last year, we would not be able to do some of the activities without your help. Also a huge thankyou to Tony, who yet again is holding us together!!
